before you read this and say i already have the same forum let me just say i misinterpreted what the error was. Ok so i dont have a powerpc chip, its just my computer(a windows xp home edition with sp3) doesnt support PowerPC architecture. So is there ANY? way i can fix this? instead of using a emulator, getting a new pc or just using cs3.

    i’m still confused too….

if you have a pc with windows xp, then you should just need the pc/windows version of ae. it should install fine as long as your system specs meet the minimum requirements.

if you have a mac version of ae, then you would need to install a mac osx operating system on your pc, boot from that and try to install the mac version of ae (it would need to be cs3 or cs4, ae7 would not work in windows)…. you’d have to google ‘osx pc’ for the procedures/hacks involved in getting osx on a pc, but it has been done, but i doubt you’d be very happy with the stability of your system if you are running ae this way.

if you are running xp on an intel mac (like mac pro, or macbook pro, etc…) then that can be done more easily, and with good results. you will need a windows/pc version of ae and install it after booting your mac in xp. for issues with windows on a mac, you should look on this forum:

we may not need full system specs…

what is the brand of your computer… hp, dell, apple, etc…?

you say you have ae cs4, if it is a boxed version, what are the system specs on the box? in particular it should say the operating systems that it is compatible with.

what i you may have going on here is you have a pc but have a mac version of cs4. if that is the case, then you need to exchange the mac version for a pc/windows version.

if that’s not the case, then we’ll try to figure this out…

one of the more confusing parts of your problem is your mention of cs4 and powerpc… there is no mac or pc version of cs4 that is powerpc compatible, so if you have an older mac (G5 and G4 macs from about 4 years ago had powerpc processors) then you won’t be able to use cs4…

also, adobe customer service is free for installation problems, if we can’t help you, i’m sure they can.

the problem again is that cs4 says “this product does not support powerpc architecture. I have a windows xp home edition. here it is:
    windows xp home edition
    version 2002
    service pack 3
manufactured and supported by compaq and presario
    AMD athlon(tm) XP3200+
2.20 ghz and 448mb of ram
my chip is a VIA/S3G Unichrome IGP

It sounds like you are trying to install a MAC version of CS4 on a Windows machine. That won’t work.
