    I don’t know if you’re still interested, but there’s an easier way to do this.
    Copy the image layer and ad a Magnify effect and drop shadow to it. This copy layer is on top of the original. Than make adjustments to your liking in the Magnify settings; for magnification, size, and to Drop Shadow on position, scale and orientation. you can animate the magnify effect by animating Center. (oh and important…set Magnify Effect blending mode to none!)

    Oh and for S3D stereoscopic part; turn layers into 3D layers, move effect layer into Z-space and mind the edges for window violation.
