  • Adjustment Layers in CS4

I have imported a project from photoshop and have animated parts of it to slide in under a mask that has been applied using an adjustment layer. The adjustment layer is on the top level of the composition, but the mask therein is not affecting any of the layers below it; regardless of where it is placed within the composition. All the layers are checked as 3D, so I am out of ideas as to what could be going on at this point.

Are there any instances where Adjustment layers do not affect the layers below it? Also, any suggested workarounds to this issue? Thanks in advance.

In AE a mask applied to an Adjustment layer will determine the area in that layer in which any effects applied to it affect the layers under.
The mask will work as a mask on 2d layers if those layers use track matte from the Adjustment layer.
You may want to precomp your layers and draw the mask on the precomp.
