Adjustment layer quick grade scaling with clips beneath – fixable?
Hi all,
Got to get a quick and dirty grade out really quick today in PPro CC, so doing minor levels corrections on the clips themselves to balance, but then wanted to put an overall look on an adjustment layer above. However every time I get to clip where I’ve animated scale/pos in the edit the adjustment layer seems to move with it but much smaller, meaning I have a floating ‘graded’ square in the middle of my screen, which is not ideal!
I usually spend more time grading in Ae (and want to properly learn Speedgrade asap, but no time for this job) so thought this would be simple but a bit of a pain!
Any ideas?

It sounds like you have 1080 media on a 720 timeline?
The easiest way to get the grade layer to stay ‘stationary’ is to assign the adjustment layer it’s own scaling value…other than 100.
If you set the adjustment layer to 101…the layer should stay full frame and not follow the underlying clip’s motion properties.

It was indeed 1080 footage in 720 timeline…lots of cropping and reframing to do!
