Adjusting audio EQ – Final Cut? Or other software?
Hi. So I have my zoom H4n setup to record with lav mic and also using the internal mics as a backup. There is a distinct eq difference between the 2, with the internal mic sounding much brighter. What is the best software I can use to mess around with the EQ in post? (I use FCP7, is there anything I’m missing in there?)

Final Cut can be used to EQ, but it’s not the best choice. There are other external audio software. If you have the Final Cut suite, then you also have Logic Pro which might be a better choice, I haven’t used it.
Adobe Soundbooth is also a good choice. It ships with the Adobe Suites.
Finally, the standard in the film and recording industry is Pro-Tools. You’ll need some training for this software and it’s not cheap.

Check out the free audio editing program Audacity which is actually quite powerful for a free program – available for mac, pc and even Linux I think

My buddy who does all my sound engineering swears by Logic Pro. He’s worried that Apple has abandoned the product, as updates don’t appear to be forthcoming. But EQ alone could be done on any of a lot of programs. If you already have Logic, go try it out.
