  • Adjust clip duration but not the audio?

Posted by David Fuku on April 14, 2014 at 10:56 pm

Hi group, trying to understand fcpx, have v10.1.1 and am trying to adjust a clip (video only) but the audio shortens as well.

I’m sure this is easy but not understanding, I see the little line that shows the audio and video are linked but (this is not the original audio)

If anyone can offer some advice I’d appreciate it.

When you put stuff in to a project, but not on the primary storyline, by default it will connect to a primary storyline clip – this is the cornerstone of the magnetic timeline in fcpx.

To reveal a clip’s audio and shorten or lengthen independently of the video, select the clip and press CTRL-S to reveal the audio and video components of a clip separately. To slip the audio, you’d need to completely detach it – shift, CTRL S.

James, thank you very much, I had to figure a workaround and I duplicated the clip in question and shortened it then deleted the bottom clip.

I couldn’t remember what the timeline “magic” was called.

    Thank you very much!!!!!!!
