I was wondering if anyone has experience with using Addonics SATA products (controller cards, enclosures) with HP 8000 and 8200 based Media Composers.

    Any comments? Thoughts? Jokes?

    TIA,

I have a Addonics SATA II PCI-X RAID5/JBOD controller in my 8200. I have it running a RAID 0 on 2 320gb Western Digital Drives. Very fast set up I should have used more than 2 drives but it still works well with Xpress Pro.

I have personal experience with SATA host controllers from Firmtek, Sonnet and Cal Digit in the HP xw8000, 8200, and 8400. All work FANTASTIC with the Media Composer line (both Adrenaline and Xpress Pro/Mojo). I urge you to use a minimum of FOUR SATA drives, stripped RAID 0 using Microsoft Disk Manager, so you don’t have to think about anything. This will give you equal perforance to the AVID VideoRAID 320, at a fraction of the cost.

I appreciate both of you taking the time to respond.

    Thank you, Gentlemen.
