Adding video to a sequence stutters, jumps back and forth and look weird! How to fix?
Hello everyone,
I was looking for a place I can get some help and came across this forum. I’m new so I’m hoping someone can help me.
I’m a freelancer and got a project to record a voiceover and sync it with an instructional video. I got the voiceover recorded and imported the voiceover track and video into Premiere.
I then click and drag the video under the sequence tab, which is blank, to create a new sequence from the video.
It looked ok at first, but when I started to cut and sync my audio to the video, some frames jump back and forth, and frames are getting overlay onto each other, even turning the background black, making it hard to see where I need to sync something.
I open the file in windows media player and it looks and plays fine. I need to fix this before the files are due, I don’t want to export this funky looking video to them.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how I can fix it? I get the same problem when I import the video into Audition as well.
I assume they use some kind of free screen capture software and if this information helps, when I right click the video and go to properties in Premiere, it gives me this information.

I’ve edited plenty of other videos with no problems, this is the first time I’ve encountered this.

Don’t know what the problem was, but the client re-recorded the video using a different codec and it seemed to fix the problem.
