  • adding video FX to entire video track

I edit m2t files with the trimmer than drag them up to the timeline on a single video track. when all the segments are in place i wish to add FX to the entire video track. it seems to only add to whatever segment is currently selected.

How can I add to an entire video tracK?

For one track at a time, click the Track FX icon (in the Track Header to the left of the video track).
For the entire project, click the Video Output FX icon (above and to the left of the Preview window).

You might also want to take a look at the “Scope of Effects” article in Vol 1 #12 of my newsletters. It explains a variety of places effects can be added including: Events, Tracks, Project, & Media.

Thanks to both of you. Nice to have that resolved. My other issue with segments on the timeline is that I have spaces inbetween segment clusters. Usually I will edit around 6 minutes at a time then start on another 6 minutes full of segments with a space inbetween the already edited segments. how do i select a group of segments together and drag them to the opening scene?

Did that question make sense? It hardly does to me and I wrote it.

Just double-click the blank area and delete it. Use Ripple Editing to close the gap.

You can also use the selection tool to select those events and then just move them by dragging.

OMG! Thank you so much Mike. I was about to pay for sony’s support because I’m on a deadline and i had seen this problem before. My solution back then was just to start another project but this project that I’m working on was 2 days worth of work and it is due tonight!

Everything had turned bright and I knew I had applied the ‘levels’ the effect inadvertently to my whole project but I didn’t know how to undo it until I came across your post.

    Thanks again.

Lalo, I’m glad that an old post helped you out.
Thank you for taking the time to do a search on the problem.
