I want to add a text to an event, which runs from left to right. So, I use “Text” from media generators, add my text and put a keyframe at the beginning and the end: works perfectly. However, the indicated length says “00:00:10:00″ and the bar for the keyframe (at the bottom) is limited to 10s. I don’t see how to increase the length. Making the text event larger on the timelime doesn’t change anything (in fact the text re-appears from left to right”. I don’t manage to change the time in the “Video Media Generators” panel: if I change 00:00:10:00 to 00:00:15:00 and push the enter button, the time scale changes to 22:40:00:00. What should I do to make the text longer (i.e. to have the text running over the screen for a longer period?

I’m not sure what’s going on with that but that is the way to change it. Just modify the Duration setting in the Video Media Generator window:

That’s what I do, but as soon as I change 00:00:10:00 to 00:00:15:00, it changes again to something else (This time it was 22:40:00:00)

Wow, that’s strange. What is your timeline ruler set to? You should always input the duration in the current timeline ruler format. Otherwise I can’t explain why that would happen. You might want to contact Sony support.

[John Rofrano] “What is your timeline ruler set to?”
That was the reason: my ruler format was SMPTE EBU (25fps, Video). I switched to Time & Frames and it works. Thanks a lot!
But what actually is SMPTE EBU ? It refers to video, 25fps (for Europe) and has the same units as Time&Frames. When would you want to use that format. I looked it up, but I didn’t get any wiser.
