  • Adding subtitle to a project

Posted by Delphine on June 21, 2005 at 1:44 am

I am working on a 35min lenght project. I only need to add subtitles to a 20min portion of the project. I have been able to add subtitles to most ofthe portion but before I am able to complete the task I get the following error messages:
    “out of memory”
“an abnormal condition has been detected”
    “Unexpected end of data”
    “Internal error”

Any advice? What should I do to prevent this messages? How can I complete my project without errors?

    Thanks

    Delphine,

Which authoring application are you using? Are the subtitles created directly in the authoring app itself or are you adding them via a subtitle text script or a subtitle script based on bitmaps?

I use Encore DVD and I created the subtitles in Encore.

What encode rate are you using for picture and sound in your project? If the combined bitrates for your picture and sound are already near the limit, you might not be able to add a subpicture track, each of which adds 0.4 Mbit/sec. to the total bitrate.

    I think I have used 7mbps CBR 1 pass.

What about the sound? The bit rate for each stream of sound and subtitles is in addition to the bit rate for the picture. If you used uncompressed (PCM) audio, you might be pushing your luck if the picture contains spikes of high birate.

I encoded my project in Premiere pro using Adobe media encoder and selected the following pre-defined setting:
PAL DV 4×3 high quality 7Mb CBR 1 pass
    Audio: PCM

What woud you recommend that I do. Who and where do I compress the Audio

    Thanks for the help
