Nope, the slideshow will take only stills and audio.

However, you could create more slideshows, with timelines running between them containing your video. That would work.

Also, you could forego the slideshow and use a timeline, which can hold multiple clips with different media types such as video, still, and audio.

yet even another way:
create your slide show in encore interface, run the project out as a DVD folder, find the VOB for the slide show, rename that vob to .mpg, edit the mpg in your nle to add your video clips, reimport the new movie in encore project. voila.
