Adding Plug-Ins
OK, I’m new to video editing and Vegas. I have (and watched) the VASST Sony 2 Disc training DVD and have trimmed and edited a few of my own videos.
I haven’t used many video effects so far.
I’ve added some of the Sony free downloads and NewBlue (cartoonr) downloadable plug-ins.
However, after loading and installig I can’t find these plug-ins in Vegas anywhere. What am I doing wrong, where should I look?
The VASST DVD has a section on plug-ins and effects but it doesn’t answer my question.
Downloading was easy, now how do I find them so I can try thm out?

You can either drag the Video FX from the video FX tab onto your events. Or you can click on the FX symbol on each event to add FX to an event. In addition, you can add the FX to a whole track (see the FX symbol in the track header) or to the whole project (drag the FX from the FX tab to the preview window).

OK, I just downloaded and installed Cartoonr from NewBlue.
I opened up Vegas and put a video clip on the timeline. Click on VideoFX and Cartoonr is no where to be found. Click on Tools/Video/Video FX and stuff and no NewBlue. Right click on video and click on Video Event FX and no NewBlue.
So, how do I get Vegas to recognize downloaded plug-ins?

When installing NewBlue plugins, you MUST pick the proper version of Vegas. In most cases, you should pick “Sony Vegas” during installation. You would only pick “Sony Vegas 64-bit” if you’re running Vegas Pro 8.1 or the 64-bit version of Vegas Pro 9.
