Using Vegas Pro 9. I’m adding lightsaber and laser blaster by rotoscoping masks over about 20 seconds of footage. When completed, if I try to play the movie, the audio plays fine but the video will barely display one frame every 5 seconds.

I don’t have this problem on similar length footage where I’ve used a chromakey or other fx plugins.

I use NeoScene proxy files for all HD footage, which has traditionally kept realtime editing and playback on my new Windows 7 workstation (10,000 rpm drives, 8mg RAM, Nehalem i7 processor, etc.)

    Thanks,

    MO

Did you try the RAM preview already? Or the RENDER TO NEW RACK (Ctrl M)? The last one I like most…

Thanks! The prerender was exactly what I needed.

Are you using particle illusion for light saber and blaster effects? If NOT can you explain how you are doing them?
