  • Adding markers to clips in the timeline…

    Posted by George Manzanilla on May 9, 2012 at 9:32 pm

    Hello, new to CS6, via FCP7… Was wondering. is it possible to add markers to clips, NOT the timeline, while working in the timeline. I see you can pull the clip up in the viewer and add markers there… but there should be a way to add a marker on a clip, by just having it selected and adding a marker, no?

    If not, then this should be one feature the CS6 team should implement. Overall, nice work. I can say, I am much more excited about using Adobe Premiere than I was about using FCPX when it came out.

    It is, I don’t know if CS6 is any different, but in CS5.5 go to Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts>Marker>Clip Markers>Set and assign a keyboard shortcut to it for ease of use. In the timeline, it will add the clip marker, but only under two conditions:

    1. The CTI is over the clip (obvious)
    2. The clip is selected/highlighted by clicking on it (not so obvious)

    Just a note, as I was having the same question. I don’t if this solution is for Windows, but although I have CS6, to edit the keyboard shortcuts you have to click on the application name, and the commend itself is under Panels>Timeline Panel>Add Clip Marker.

    Now if we could just get Adobe to give us a GUI keyboard editor…

    Just to clarify Gates Bradley post above me- the SOLUTION to this problem is as follows;

    Keyboard shortcuts>Panels>Timeline Panel>Add Clip Marker

    Not what was stated in the original post. This applies to CS6 & CC.

    I know this thread is a few years old- but I was having the same problem in CC and came across it so I think its still relevant for anyone searching google for an answer to this.

    Cheers!
