adding logo to video
Hi. I just started using sony Vegas and know nothing. I am trying to add a logo to my video so that my logo appears throughout the whole video down in the right hand corner. I added a transparent .png to the top timeline and the video is on the second timeline directly beneath it, and it appears in the video but..I used the pan crop tool (right click on the graphic logo) and could move the logo but not where I want to. Here’s the weird thing, seems logo can only move from center, to only so far left or so far right and then it ‘disappears’ behind the video, like there is a secret door on the first one third of the screen, and last one third of the screen. HOW do I add the logo to the bottom right hand without it ending up behind? Thanks!

Your logo probably disappeared because you cropped it when you thought you were moving it.
Undo the crop and use the “Track Motion” tool instead. It’s pretty intuitive as to how to use it.

Track Motion is the best tool for placing a bug on your video.

I’ve become a bit of a PITA “purist” when it comes to doing this kinda stuff. I make a “bug” to fit the Video Event “The Bug” Project from within a Graphics package. Reasons?
A] When back in VP, I’m not committing a complete Track to a single Event that requires Track Motion. Rendering is not forced to take not of the WHOLE Track Motion Track.
B] Reduces the possibility of me clumsily sticky anything else in that Track that doesn’t need TM! – It can get messy….
C] It provides a Ready-To-Go Graphics bug that I can use elsewhere without worrying/concerning myself about TM.
As I said, I’ve become a real PITA!

That’s a good point Graham. You are asking Vegas Pro to do a lot of work to process the bug as Track Motion when it would be a lot less computational work to create the bug in the correct position in a graphics package and just drop that graphics onto a track without the need for Track Motion.

Thanks guys, it did get it to work with the track motion, but now I am going to try the graphic thing. I’m assuming you mean to make a graphic of my logo that is the same size as the video screen, and is transparent but the logo is down in the right corner of that graphic.

_______________________________________________________________No, not the SAME size as the video, but to make the LOGO the size needed in the position you wish.

Yes that’s exactly what I meant. This will render the quickest because Vegas pro will not have to resize or reposition it. It will just get processed very quickly as the whole frame .

Karen, I understood you were asking if you should make the logo the SAME size as the video screen, meaning, FILLING it. My answer was, and still is NO. What John has rightly said is that you should make the logo to fit the Video screen, which in this case WOULD be already positioned in the correct place AND size. If you look at my example of my Logo it is SIZED and POSITIONED already.
