Hello, I would add layer marker while listening to audio,
and I know it could be done by Audio Previewing my composition, and pressing add layer marker short cut,
however, since I’m using note book, and I do not have numeric keypad, I changed the short cut to SHIFT + A.
I have checked the shortcut is not taken by any other command.
However, When I go back to After effects, and choose composition > Preview >Audio Preview
and hit SHIF + A while listning to music, the play back stops and pointer jumps to where the indicator is.
I can insert layer marker when I’m not previewing with the customised key, but I don’t know why it’s not working during preview. Can anyone help me?

    Thank you.

Most laptops have a function key that doubles the functions of the existing keyboard layout. You may want to try to use the function key and the numeric asterisk key (asterisk should be avaiable “on top” of one of your other standard keys).

My Mac iBook has a “NumLock” key (F6) that converts a portion of the keyboard to a numeric keypad. This works for hitting “*” (the “P” key when not in NumLock mode) to add markers while previewing audio. I synced an entire demo reel using this method. As the previous poster indicated, most laptops have the capability to use a portion of the keyboard as a numeric keypad through a function or NumLock key.

SHIFT+A displays the Anchor Point parameters in addition to whatever params are already open. That’s why it stops.

    I think.
