  • Adding clip to revival

Posted by Tom Banks on January 17, 2012 at 9:30 pm

I am using DaVinci Resolve on an iMac, just recently started using this software and I’m loving it.

I have a project in which I can’t seem to add a clip to Revival for Grain processing. When I right-click on the clip, and select the “Add selected clip to Revival for Grain processing” nothing seems to happen. I get a notification in the viewing window that the clip has been added, but when I go to the Revival window to check, nothing is there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Tom,

This feature allows you to send clips to revival for processing if you also have a revival system in your facility.

You can find more information about Revival here : https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/davincirevival/models/

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Dan,
Thank you for the speedy response. I guess i did not realize a separate system was needed for Revival, never came across that in the manual.

    Thank you!

I should further clarify this. This feature was based upon the DaVinci versions of Resolve and Revival. Due to the accelerated development in Resolve, the ability for Revival to connect to the Resolve database is no longer available. We would like to see something take the place of this functionality in the future but when and how is to be determined. For now, the ability to remove some dirt along with noise reduction and stabilization is included within Resolve.

    Hi Gary,
Thank you for clarifying. I completely understand. I shoot 100% digital these days, so I don’t foresee the need for any dust cleanup. However, I would look forward to any grain reduction Resolve could provide in the future.

I also completely appreciate Blackmagic making Resolve available for free. Without question, the lack of the Revival feature does not sour in the amazing experience I have had acclimating to this software.

    Hi Tom,

The noise reduction feature in Resolve only works with NVIDIA graphics GPU and unfortunately your iMac is using ATI graphics so it won’t work.
