  • Adding brushes within a object boundary

I’m sure I’ve done this before but I’m having a mental break and can’t remember how you do it. I’ve drawn an object within illustrator and exported it into photoshop to add detailing. But I only want the brush strokes visible within the object – with no overlap into the background like it is in the attached image.

How do I do it? Do I need to mask the object and then put the brush strokes?

In your Layers palette, click the Lock Transparency switch along the top (looks like a little square checkerboard), or hit your “/” key (next to Right Shift, same key as “?”). Either way, transparency will be protected and your strokes will only affect areas with opaque or semi-opaque pixels.

It is easier to destroy than to create.
    More fun, too.
