If I have edited a 5 minute sequence of 30 shots, and then want to add a new shot to the sequence at the very start, how do I maintain the integrity of the sequence in the easiest way that allows addition of the new shot?

#1. Enable “Auto Ripple” (it’s a toolbar icon).
Move the existing clips over, insert the new material and move the old clips back to take up the gap.
#2. With your cursor at the very beginning, “Insert – Time”.
    Specify the desired length.

PS: Turn off auto ripple when you are done with it.
