I’m currently running with a Quadro4000 in my MacPro serving as both my GPU and GUI for two displays (a 20-inch viewsonic via DVI and a 30-inch HP via display port). I’m thinking I’d like to get a second graphics card to offload the display tasks rather than having the Quadro do it all.

Currently my Quadro is in lane 1, lane 2 is empty, lane 3 is a decklink HD extreme, and lane 4 is an eSata card.

    Two questions:

If I do end up getting a second graphics card, is it better to have the Quadro4000 solely as a GPU in lane one or lane two?

Whichever lane it needs to go in, that only leaves one slot available for an additional graphics card. Any recommendations for a single-wide card for those displays? I’m having a difficult time finding a contender.

    Thanks!
