  • added filter from 5.0 to 5.1

I recently did a little leap-frog and upgraded my FCP 4.5 system to 5.1. My other systems are 5.0.2. Of course, only now do I find out that 5.1 projects wont open in 5.0. great!

My real question is that I have a filter folder in 5.1 called “Glow” in it are the filters “Light Rays” and “Overdrive”. Did these come with 5.1? or did someone else on my staff slip them in when I wasn’t looking? They don’t seem to be in the Plug-Ins folder. Is there a way I can find them and get them over to my 5.0.2 systems? Will they work?

This is new functionality in v5.1.2. These are Motion plugins and are not available to earlier versions of the application.

    All the best,

    Hi.

As far as I know, you have to upgrade…
FCP 5.1 uses FX that are installed originally for Motion and other FX pluggins.
And you have to turn on: Effect->Effect Availability -> “All Effects” to show all pluggins.

Your 5.1 WILL open in 5.04 by exporting and importing XML.
