add twinkle to eye
Posted by Dave Stalion on November 25, 2009 at 4:07 pmgreetings
how can I add a twinkle or sparkle to the eye in fcp, motion, or AE?
the talent says “doesn’t this shirt match the color of my eyes?”
I want to add a twinkle highlight to her eyes at that point.
thanks

November 25, 2009 at 4:26 pmCreate the twinkle any way you like, use a plug-in in Motion or AE, or just make a still of it in photoshop, saved with an alpha channel PS has a plug in for this I think…
Bring that still or motion graphic into FCP, lay it on a video track above the actor’s track, if it has an alpha channel it should float correctly right away, if it doesn’t have an alpha channels, highlight the clip, go to the top of the menu bar, go to Modify > all the way to the >”Composite mode” setting at the bottom, select “add” or “Screen” from those choices. Now the white glint on black should read correctly, and you just have to use the FCP positioning tools to scale and position it to taste. You will probably want to keyframe a rise and fall in the opacity of the twinkle, and put a slight rotatino on it, in FCP you can do that right in the canvas window.

November 25, 2009 at 9:54 pmThere is some free content in Motion that may be worth looking at. Go to the library in Motion, Content and then take a look at: Blurred Spikey star, Defocus More.png, flare, Spikey Star
Hope this helps.Check out my Motion Training DVD

November 26, 2009 at 2:28 pmThere’s one in livetype the I use as well. If the subject is moving, you would have to motion track it. Best done in AE or Motion. You could do it within FCP with keyframes but the result won’t be as good
