add effect to track without automation
hi
i want to add an effect to a video track without automation. ie to adjust the brightness and contrast of all clips in a track to the same unchanged level level.
currently when i try and do this an automation point is added wherever the playhead is
i’m sure i have been able to do this before but now i cant figure out what im doing wrong

It sounds like you have the Sync Cursor button engaged which will add automation points at the current timeline cursor location. I would turn that off.
