    Hi there,

I want to add a vignette to a text layer, and affect only the text layer.

But, when I do so, it affects the ENTIRE image/background below the text – and not just the text.

I also tried adding a gradient matte ontop of the text layer and changing the composite mode – but that, too, affects the entire clip below and not only the text.
    Nesting gives the same result.

I know I can do this in Motion, but would prefer to stay in FCP.

Any words of wisdom from the COW?

    FCP 6.0.3

    Thanks,

    Wayne

If the text is on a separate layer you can apply the Vignette filter to it. Or you can make a render shape put it on the layer below it text and add travel matte luma to the text layer.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Thanks Tom,

    I’ll give it a try.
