  • Actual file size question (not frame size)

Posted by Les Kaye on April 23, 2009 at 8:01 pm

I’ve gotten a few rather large tif graphics. One in particular is over 64MB. Before I get too deep into it, are there issues with a file size this large? Would I be better off requesting an .ai file (that could be imported via Motion?).

    Thanks.

Files that large are cumbersome to work with and FCP isn’t the greatest at scaling. Even of you plan to zoom/pan/etc. on the image and need the resolution use Photoshop to down-size it appropriately.

I don’t know if that is a good workflow.
Ilustrator supports BM images but is a parametric application.
Why don’t just convert the files to PNG?
