I’m not trying to be negative, just trying to help.

Everything needs to be tightened way up… You could have easily told the whole story you have in 90 seconds.

You should, no you need to read some books on directing. Basic mistakes like crossing the action axis happened several times. I know that rules are made to be broken, but you need to know them before you can effectively break them. Most of the times when basic rules of filmmaking were broken in this piece it also broke any tension that you managed to build.

I also don’t know what data rate you’ve compressed the movie to or who is serving it up, but there were many playback hang-ups for me and I’ve got a really fast connection. CC pages pop up in less than a second and the video tutorials they post here start playing in less than a second.

OTT, good first effort on the FX. You just need to add in a little more cinematic style to build up the tension and make us feel something for the characters.

My main criticism is that during the map reading scene, we’re looking at the back of the actor who’s talking. Put the camera on the map, showing a gloved hand pointing out the various landmarks being mentioned.

The slo-mo bullet near the end looked totally fake. Otherwise, the effects were not too bad.

One thing that would def add to the realism would be a ground shaking when the mortars were going off. They felt really girly because they made a lot of smoke but we didn’t FEEL them.

Also, when they get pinned in that first bunker, the camera should be a lot more “terrified-hand-held”. A lot of shakeys disorients the viewer and the are more apt to sympathize with the character.

The movie doesn’t start playing at all for me. I’m also on a very fast connection so not sure where the problem is.
