    Hello All,
First time poster, long time CCW browser. Now, I am thinking of taking the ACSR Editing training come the end of the year. I’ve been saving up money for some form of Post Production training and was interested to know what you all thought of this course.

I currently work as full-time Edit Assistant at a London post house and, like many, aspire to become an editor one day. Now I realise the ASCR course is not for Editors BUT I’m interested in it to get myself edit assistant jobs which would hopefully lead to editing gigs in time.

I could of course take the Avid MC Course (201, 205 etc.) but my thinking is that it is my reel and credits which will get me editing gigs, not any certification. Whereas to get more assisting work the ASCR training could give me the edge over others.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated…

    Kind Regards

    Gavin

I’m not familiar with this particular course but if it’s geared towards assistant editors, it will be probably very technical. To get a editing gig, you would be more served by a course that teaches you the cinematic language.

Are you familiar with the master in editing from NFTS? It’s a very strong course and you get to know a lot of people that works in the industry.

This is just my opinion, things are very tricky in the film industry and you need to know directors to get the proper gigs and they don’t want to talk technical with you. They need to feel that you have the right sensitivity, so that they can trust you with their film.

I hope this makes some sense.

    Eduardo.
