I have found a great price on Firewire/USB external Acomdata 500gig hard drives at Frys.com. I purchased a few for backup and I am considering getting a few more for a current project.

The big question is does anybody have a history with these external drives? Are they good just for storage or do they hold up to DV editing?

They’re labeled assembled in America, is it possible?? 🙂

    Thanks

I have two of the bus powered ONDAGO drives. But I use those for field P2 archiving, not editing. But they are solid little drives.

For backup, the big key is to have it in two places. Hard drives can just stop working. So if you’re going to get into something like a USB drive, I’d suggest that you get two and copy the same data to both of them. Then store one of the drives off site.

Hard drives are hard to beat on price now days for backup.
