I had a project open in Vegas Pro 8 and I deleted most of it so I could render just the ending for use in multiple projects, then I went to close the project and when it asked me if I wanted to save the changes I had made I accidently clicked “Yes” and the project closed. Wondering if there’s any way to get back to my original file? Thanks.

Try to find your-project-name.veg.bak (in the same folder) file. If it exists – rename it to your-project-name2.veg and open in Vegas. Hope this helps.

I’ve also had success digging up previous versions by rummaging through restored.veg files in the windows temp directory. It’s hit and miss, but sometimes you find old gold.

To help prevent this from happening in the future, you could use my free Auto Save custom command that installs as part of Excalibur (you don’t have to purchase Excalibur for it to work). It will automatically save your project under a NEW file name every “x” minutes (you can set the timeframe) so you could go back to the last saved version an lose, at most, “x” minutes.
