  • Accidental formatting of Media Drive

    Hi everybody,

Due to plain stupidity and stressed work mode, I formatted the original 3TB RAID 1 Media Disk, instead of the the back up disk.
Now, I know there’s many recovery softwares out there, but I desperately look for one that brings back also the file structure and file names, since there’s more than 50,000 media files on the HD.
Manually re linking them to the FCP 7 project will take weeks and we have a film festival dead line breathing in our neck.

I’d be more than grateful for any suggestions.

    Hi Bob,

Come to Tel Aviv, and I will invite you for hell of a Humus!

I did download in the meanwhile Prosoft Data Rescue 4.
Since it’s 3TB it’s still scanning for another 12 hours.
My question: It appears, it can recover probably all, but only half, or less, with the intact folder structure and File names.
That is kind of a bummer since I face several thousands of Video, Audio and Still Files.
Do you know, weather it’s possible to get to those the real names after the recovery?

Or even better: The Software you suggested will bring back all Files with intact Folder Structure and File Names?

    Hi,

Can you please confirm whether the media device is based on MAC OS or Windows. If it is based on Windows OS then i can use data recovery software of Stellar. It can recover data from formatted drives easily.

It was a MAC Formatted Mirrored Drive.
But it’s all good, we recovered the Data.
Film got finished, ran already in Cinemas in 3 countries and even won the Swiss Bern Film Prize. ☺

    Best,

    Sascha
