    Hi,

I wanted to just upgrade to Motion 3, but for some reason, FCP 6
was also accidentally upgraded and I would much rather remain in FCP 5.
What’s the best way to revert to FCP 5.1.2?

    Thanks,

    Wayne

I don’t think you can run Motion 3’s projects in FCP 5… That’s why it installed it. Why not run FCP 6? It’s a pretty stable piece of software actually.

I didn’t want to upgrade yet, because the rest of my team haven’t
yet upgraded, and now we can’t share files.

    Also, FCP 6 won’t open a large [257MB] project (that FCP 5.1.2
    opened easily)

    !!!

I didn’t clone my hard-drive and do a clean install of the OS, etc
[as is recommended] because all I wanted was Motion 3, and not the
    whole package.

    Now what should I do??

    Any advice from the sages?

What do you think you need to do? There is no magic that will make FCP 6 and Motion 3 dissapear from your system.

You are going to have to do a fresh instal of 5.12.

yeah, I figured that’s what I’m going to have to do.

Or… get the entire team to upgrade! [Which is probably
    more likely].

    Thanks,

I’m running both. I kept 5.1.4 on my system. I hid it from the installer by putting a copy on an external drive and unmounting it.

I would figure you can just copy the app from one of your other systems, rename it Final Cut Pro 5 and copy it to your FCP 6 system and it will most likely run just fine. Give it a shot.

I’m planning on doing what you did, archive FCP 5.14 to another drive before updating to FCP 6. Have you seen any of the media manager issues in 6 that others have reported?

    Cheers
