Accessing/Converting DVR Footage
I need to get access to some interviews I recorded on my (Time Warner Cable) DVR so I can convert and edit them into a FCP project. I was told I could do this thru an AJA ioxt. Is that so? If not, any idea how I can grab the footage I want on the DVR?
The DVR has HDMI and RCA out, as well as a Firewire port.
The shows were recorded in 16×9 HD.
If this were 4×3 material, I could take the RCA’s into my DV deck and pass thru, but I’d like to keep the widescreen aspect ratio and highest quality resolution possible, and do not have a pass thru device for that.
So I’d like to pull it off the HDMI. Can I do that with the AJA just by hooking it up to the DVR and my computer and capturing in FCP once I hit play on the DVR?
Or — if I connected a Firewire drive, how would I control the DVR so I could copy just the ten minutes of footage I want, not the 80 hours that’s stored on the DVR.

Thanks for any tips.
