  • AC3?

I’m compressing a video (94 minutes) out of Final Cut but having compression issues. I’ve compressed using Compressor 3 times now which have created huge files (to big for a single sided DVD). I’ve read hear to compress my audio with AC3 compression, not AIFF. Can someone explain AC3 to me? Do I totally omit the AIFF from the compression qeue? I’ve been compressing with the built in 120 min preset which includes both the AIFF and the AC3 files. Again, do I not compress the AIFF at all? Then in DVDSP drop the AC3 in the audio track?

Lastly, Is there a “chart” or another resource that shows XXX minutes of video compressed at XXX CBR or XXX VBR takes up XXX space on a DVD? I’m tired of guessing how big the files will be after waiting 6-9 hours of compression time.

Thanks in advance to any and all!

No, you don’t need to compress the AIFF at all. Just do the AC3, which drops right into
the audio track where the AIFF file goes.
