I am trying to burn a DVD from Encore CS6. The ac3 file I have is in 5.1 and burned just fine when I made a blu-ray copy of the film. But now that I am burning to DVD it is automatically transcoding it to stereo.

Under “transcode settings>dvd transcoding>Quality preset” there is no “don’t transcode” option like there is for blu-ray transcoding.

    Any ideas?

Took me way too long… But I answered my own question:

The bitrate was too high. It was at 640 and needed to be no higher than 448. I assume most of those that come across this thread will have already known that, but there it is for people that need a little help.

Anyway, I just down converted and it worked.

    Hey Bryce,

I’m having the same issue. That fixed it?

I’ll have to give it a try. Did you use media encoder?

    Thanks!

It did work. I had to find a third-party software and downconverted the 640k to 448k and it burned fine and plays in 5.1 still.

Encore won’t maintain the 5.1 when converting, you have to use a different program. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the program, and it’s on a different computer in a different city at the moment. But it does exist and it was free and easy to use.

I think I found it, and I believe the name of the program I used was ac3gain.
