I’d like to be able to use AE’s comp camera instead if Invigorator Pro 5’s camera. Obviously I’ve ticked use comp camera, and for the most part this is fine, but for some reason, even though I can see my imported 3d model in the main AE Active Camera view, I cannot see the model in any of the other views, such as top, left. right etc. To be clear, I’ve made a standard 50mm comp camera in the comp.

Also, I’m finding it incredibly difficult to position any images/video imported directly into AE (and turned to 3d space) to the same x/y/z plane as the 3d model imported via Invigorator when using AE coms cameras.

Does anyone have any ideas here or has a link to a tutorial that might help me out?

    Hi Colin,

It’s normal that you cannot see the model in the Top, Left, Right camera. Since 3D Invigorator is a plug-in that is applied to a 2D Layer, the 3D is only “projected” to the Comp Camera.

As far as positioning images or videos to the imported model, 3D Invigorator uses the same X,Y,Z positions as After Effects. So if you’re not sure where the imported model is positioned, go into the 3D Invigorator Set-Up window, and look in the Object Controls panel. Expand the “Info” controls, and you will be able to see the X,Y,Z coordinates for the imported 3D model.

It may be also easier to create a Plane (Primitive) in 3D Invigorator, match the position to the imported model, then apply the image/video as a texture map onto the Plane.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Edward

Interestingly, Trapcode Particular is a 3D plugin applied to a 2D layer – but you *can* see it in the top/right/front etc. views.

I have to tell you it is very handy for positioning. Not sure what Trapcode is doing to bring this functionality, but I’d imagine you could do the same for invigorator.
