    Hi folks, I’m from Brasil.
I would like to know how to export videos with super emitters (like a explosion)
to After Effects. I already tried but the explosion lost much details.
I exported it from PI to After Effects in AVI format (Normal channel and Alpha Channel). Is there another way to export the video without losing quality?
I read in tutorial that’s possible to export like filmstrip, but I coudn’t do that.
I also tried to save a video in many AVI configurations to use as background in PI
but it didn’t work (the image does not appear, everything is black).
…and … is there another way to export the video without losing quality?
    Thanks for all
    Marcos

Render in pIllusion as a TGA image sequence, and check the “save alpha” option in the output options dialog. pI3 for Windows does not allow alpha channels with AVIs.

    Allen:

Will this issue be addressed in the near future? (I gotta’ get this in whenever I see it mentioned of course. And it’s been a while, 😉 ) “Uncompressed” and that fantabulous HUFFYUV codec (even better) would be really nice. Or just allow export to Quicktime on the Windows platform.

May I also ask why this has been missing for so long now? Naturally, not being a programmer this is probably going to be a stupid statement, but it seems like adding support for one oR the other would be a relatively simple task. Is it a licensing issue with Quicktime or something?

    Best regards,
    Tim

Yes, this will be fixed in a 3.x update sometime in the next few months.
