  About Masking

  Hi, I’ve been playing with the SE version (and now also the 3.0) demos to try a few things. One thing I had wanted to do was to create some title effects where smoke appears to coalesce into the words.
  At first, I tried to use the technique used in the newest Star Trek transporter, taking an effect (something smokey) and using a PNG of the text I wanted, with the background transparent.
  This however, is only available in 3.0 (it seems) and I’m not in a position to buy that just yet. And I cannot seem to get it to work. No matter what type of effect I choose, applying the text mask seems to have no effect what so ever.

  Any pointers?
