About carrying on same project using different video resolution
Hello,
I am taking my first footage and I have an issue related to multiple formats used together in same project. I would appreciate help!
The video from my camera is being recorded in .mts (AVCHD) with resolution of 1280 x 720. I intend to set my project in Vegas to render in 1280 x 720. But I also will use some “b-roll” footage, being most of them available in DVD format (worse resolution).
a) Considering the video after editing (final rendered version), would be any problem to the overall video quality (because the DVD b-roll is being used into a higher definition project)?
b) Is there any advice/warning when carrying on same project that uses different video resolution?

Well… the quality of the DVD footage will have less resolution so it will look noticeably softer. You might want to use a plug-in like Boris FX BCC UpRez which is designed to improve the resolution of SD footage in an HD project. If you don’t want to buy a plug-in, you might want to add the Sharpen filter to the SD footage.

I would keep the project at the resolution of the most prominent footage. If the footage is mostly HD then use an HD project. If the footage is mostly SD then you might want to consider using an SD project and delivering in SD.

Thanks for the tips. I will try the Sharpen filter first, but is worth knowing about Boris FX BCC…
