Good morning from 20 degrees C medieval York UK 🙂

The web link at the top of this post illustrates my problem. The problem being I cant sort bin footage by date taken. I filmed two boats on one memory card now all the footage is mashed up. Sorting by date taken would be something I would never have guessed would be missing or am i missing something?

So my question is – “How do I sort bin footage in Premiere Pro CC by date taken?”

If this is not abvailable is the workaround to make sure you label in camera (What a drag!)

    Ciao,
    David

    good news:

right click column headings choose metadata display…
in the search field that appears type date…
enable date created field by checking it
    close metadata window
scroll to the right in the project panel.

    bad news:
    this isn’t sortable yet
    and it’s not really siftable…

    BUT:
you can however make a new bin and drag your matches it into it

good news: looks like PPro gets a major update in this regard in the next release with metadata based bins.

    take a look: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/video/pro-video-tools.html

You can sort by Date and Time of Day in Prelude.

So, once I filtered down to clips on that date that were created between 12:30 and 12:40, I just create a new bin and send it to PPro.

So tell me about this. I ain’t that smart.

Make your media easier to manage without the pain of long transcodes. Prelude has worked with the Adobe Media Encoder (AME) team to enable Rewrap to OP1A MXF. Media and clips can now ingest and export faster by avoiding transcoding and/or rendering whenever possible. Using the Match Source preset under the transcode option in the Ingest dialog, AME will extract media from folder based formats, like XDCAM HD, XDCAM EX, AVC-Intra, XAVC, and DNX HD, into one simple MXF file. Using the Match Source preset when exporting a rough cut sequence will rewrap any matching clip rather than rendering or transcoding. Our goal is to save you time, while making your asset management easier.

On a MAC I found the Easiest Workaround was to view the files by “Date Created” in the Finder. Select the files for the earliest Date and
then simply drag all the files Directly to the Timeline in Premiere Pro.
For ex. Drag all the files for April 5th to the timeline then all the files for April 6th. Worked for me!
