  • Abnormal condition when I set an intro video to first play

I have a simple project with two timelines and buttons to play each timeline. Everything works fine. I created an intro video with After Effects and encoded it with Main Concept into an mpeg with no audio. Encore seems to like the mpeg as I can set it to don’t transcode but I get the same problem even if I use the uncompressed video straight from after effects.

When I set the intro video to first play and try to preview, I get the dreaded “abnormal condition” error. As soon as I switch back to the menu as first play, the problem goes away. I am at a loss to figure out what the problem is.

What happens if you set one of your other videos to first play. Just as a test.

If that fails, too, I’d suspect something wrong with the project. Try starting a new one and rebuilding and see if that helps.

Are you setting the video file as the first play, or the timeline containing the video? Be sure that the first play is actually a timeline and not to a video clip. This may solve the problem.
