In trying some AAF tests, I’m finding that although it works well if the AAF is linked to original sources (i.e., Quicktime movies, etc.), it doesn’t seem to relink to Avid media for anything but the master session. In other words, I can bring in the AAF, have it either look at media I’ve already got in the media pool or bring it the media directly, and the timeline populates with unlinked clips, even though all of the media is there and shows up in the master session. Should I consider AAF operations a work in progress, or is this a bug that you either do or do not know about?

    Along those same lines…….

It would be great if during AAF imports involving Avid media, that Resolve would directly link to any rendered effects. At the moment, the only way I can see to get rendered effects from an Avid into a timeline is to put them in the media pool and manually cut them in. That works fine if there are only a few of them, but when a show is full of strange stuff it can become pretty time consuming.

Thanks in advance. I really love what I see in version 8. Great job.

Now all you have to do is add a log format toolset ………. ;-D

A followup to my last post…..

In thinking about this I realized that it seems Resolve is always trying to conform from AAF using file names rather than Avid UMIDs. That would cause the behavior I’m seeing. Is it possible to add a user selection to allow for either one? That would in theory allow reconnecting to either the original sources when the system can play them (i.e., ProRes on a Mac but not on Linux) or the DNx media when that’s what you want. That’s something Smoke does and it makes things quite a bit more flexible.

    Just a thought….
