AAF import Timeline gets out of Sync when Speedchanged Clips are in play
Hello dear Forum Members,
this is my first post here, i have been using Resolve for a couple of weeks now coming from Assimilate Scratch Background and having a great experience. Awesome Software!
Now i am getting a Feature Film Timeline from Avid where a Red project correctly transcoded to dnxhd mxf with Redcine x and all Reels and TCs was cut.
Resolve 8.1.1 and Cut on Avid MC 5.0.3 and creating the AAF on a consolidated sequence on Avid MC 5.5.3 on the DaVinci Machine which is the newest Mac Pro Quad 2.8. 12 GB RAM and 10.6.8
I export from Avid as AAF Video Tracks only. Once with AAF Edit Protocol enabled once without.
Importing into Resolve and it also brings the complete Timeline online reconnected with all clips ( except some vfx and other Camera Clips that i will add later though) even Multiple Tracks seems to work.
But the Timeline does not stay in sync with the offline reference Movie as soon as there is a clip that has a certain kind of Speed effect ( i am trying to find out which one. the one i was examining had a Speedchange somehow done by a not a normal effect on it but it was created as a speedchanged subclip i think)
For example a Speed of 60 fps:
The Starting Time Code and End Timecode of the Source is way before and after the supposed Avid one in DaVinci. Also the Clip is longer in the Timeline of DaVinci than in Avid.
This leads to lot of everything being out of Sync.
I am trying all kinds of things now. also if it even matters so much when i render back to the avid for final output. maybe it relinks just fine. but a lot of problems are posed by clips that are on V2 or V3 in the timeline and now the position of those is of for Grading.
i’ll add more info the next hours as i dig into that but it would be helpful if anyone has a suggestion in the right direction.
Maybe relinking the avid sequence to non subclips before AAF export?

Hi Tim,
Could you please send us the AAF as well as the exported Resolve project at davincihelp (at) blackmagic-design.com? Please let us know which event you have started seeing this issue (and if you have some screenshots as well that would be great).

I am having this same problem! My sequence is getting out of sync in the Resolve where there are speed effects in there. I thought it used to work ok. I think that variable speed effects are not supported (would be great if they were). But I am pretty sure that regular straight speed effects should work ok.
If you can send Blackmagic more info I think they will look into this problem (bug?). I sent them my info and hopefully they can get this fixed soon.
