    Hi there,

I’m at the moment cutting a short in premiere pro 1.5 and
last week I mad a test in my preparing for getting the sound from the sequence into pro-tools.

What I did was that I created a new project, imported a few media-files, made some random cuts and lined them up in a sequence
for then to export the project using the AAF exporter.

I then took my AAF-file and imported it into an AVID DV EXPRESS 3.5 and it worked smoothly. There they where. My mediafiles (offline though) and my sequence. A quick linking of the media followed by a OMF2.0 export and I was ready to go to pro-tools.

All this worked fine with the test project. But! With my short-movie it’s a different story.

When importing an AAF exported version of my short-movie-project AVID comes up with an error. Even Premiere Pro comes up with an error when trying to import it’s own created AAF.

I then thouged it had something to do with the naming of the clips in my project or some other related issue, so I started to search for the sinner by deleting all the sequences and the made a new export. Same error!!

Then I deleted half the mediafiles from the project. Same error!

Then I deleted some more and so forth. When I got to a total of 241 items in my project the AAF worked fine. I then imported one more media-file and now had a total of 242 items, then again the AAF failed to import.

So I thoughed that maybe there was a critical mass bug in the AAF exporter. But no. I made a totaly new project and imported around 300 items to the project and it worked fine! Freaky stuf I thoughed!

So what on earth is going on?! Is it a wierd compination of name tags and numer of media files. Or what!

    Any ideas??

I know that automatic duck has now released an OMF exporter for premiere pro, but the short movie has not the budget to buy it.
There must be a way to get the sound with handles to protools.

    Daniel
