I’m a lowly intern at this small studio and the head video producer just went on maturnity leave. This means that if any projects come up the PM will be nervously looking at me!
She has 13 years experience compared to myself-still in school. I can edit pretty good but I can only do basic effects and I’m just barely getting the hang of Avid Media Composer. She uses After effects ALOT! it really makes her work look good but up until I started working here, I’ve never used it. Now I have a need to learn it…fast! Does anyone know of any online tutorials that can take me through at least some asic stuff? When I open up the program-thats as far as I get. I don’t know what to do from there!

They aren’t teaching it in school yet so I kind of need video tutorials and you creative cow geniouses to be my teachers!

    Pleeeease 🙂

    Thanks

Thanks! I’m sure the Project Manager will pay for them. He already put out a pretty penny for ALEX (avid tutorial). This is a brand new studio for a large education company. They decided to start using broadcast to deliver educational shows and PSA’s and spent tons of money on the new studio and latest equipment. I guess they want to see how well it goes before they fund more employees for this department but I think they made a mistake in hiring only one Senoir Producer and one part time assistant/intern (me).
We have a PM but he isn’t specialized in broadcast or editing or even using the camera.
So basically there are three of us running the studio with only one having any exceptional experience (Senoir producer has 13 years-worked with alot of news stations before), one still in school(me), and one just managing all the projects (PM).

They shoud have hired at least one other full time person because now they are used to the senoir’s excellent work but shes gone having a baby and they are stuck with the intern! Ha! Ha!
Well, the best thing I can do is start cramming-I can’t learn too much when Im only working 4 hours a day then at school full time but I’v already spent 3 hours on Creative cow and video co-pilot.net today. Andrew Kramer has some nice tutorials there. I saw one just now thats supposed to teach the basics of AE. I’ll try that one tomorrow but for now, I gotta go-I have class in an hour.

Thanks for your help! Help from anywhere at this point is appreciated!
