  • a very ODD and specific audio problem with an MOV file

Posted by Jonathan Gunn on October 21, 2012 at 12:26 am

I have footage from a camcorder that is in MOV format and I am editing it using Sony Vegas Pro 11.

I have tried many different rendering file types with different audio settings and so far nothing has worked.

Pre-rendered and edited, raw MOV file only plays audio in Windows Media Player. The video plays in Quicktime but the audio is quiet and distorted. And it doesn’t play at all on Media Player Classic.

Once rendered, the file works 100% perfectly on my desktop PC when played with Windows Media Player, Quicktime, and Media Player Classic.

But when I play it on a mobile device, the audio is VERY quiet and distorted. BUT the audio works when the headphones are plugged in. I’ve tried it on both an iPhone 5 and Galaxy S2.

It’s a very odd problem and I can’t find this issue anywhere else.

Does anyone have an idea why?

Right-click on the audio and try selecting a different stream. Then normalize it.
