  • A small question regarding proxies

So, I need to create a proxie of a precomposed 3D layer.

I’m just trying to figure out what settings to use.

This is what the room looks like whithout a proxie:
    room

With proxie enabled, it looks like this:
    proxie

When I scrub through the timeline I can still see that it’s a 3D layer:
    yellow screen
Obviously, it’d be a bit difficult to work like this.

In the render queue I just used Draft settings, video for windows.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you proxy a nested 3D comp, they become 2D nested comps but perhaps you already knew this. Secondly, your proxies should share identical aspect ratios as the target. Other than this you can choose any setting you want. I normally use 1/3 rez of the original with QuickTime’s video CODEC at 75%. If I need an Alpha Channel for my proxy, I’ll use Animation at 75%.

It is, indeed, a nested 3D comp; which is why I suspected that this would not work.

Oh well. Thanks for the input.
