Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy a ‘render’ question

    Hello,

most of time to render an effect on the timeline I just select the effect to render using the mouse, and press ‘apple-R’, audio and video will be rendered for playback.
Sometimes though it doesn’t work and it’s necessary to click one of the render options in the popdown Sequence menu, which takes more time ( especially when working with many different effects, and a quick playback vision is needed..). Could you tell me on what it depends? I quess it will have something to do with the sequence settings…

    Thanks for your help!

The Apple + R option only renders the clips whose status (indicated by the colour of the line above the video track in the timeline) matches the types with a tick by them in the ‘render’ section of the sequence tab. If you tick, for example the green (preview or full) options in this list, then the render will happen every time you press Apple+R. Same for the material with the orange bar that plays back via RT at a lower rez/framerate.

There’s also a seperate list for render all. In this way, FCP allows you specifiy what level of rendering you need, so for example, if will ignore material that will run in real time in some manner, but render clips that won’t play at all. Neat feature, so play with it and it may increase your productivity!

Just go through the Render selections for both Render Selection and Render all, and check everything on both lists. That’s what I do. Then no matter which you use, Render Selection or Render All, FCP will start the render.

This will re-set if you need to trash your prefs at any time.

I’m feeling Gerundio right now because no matter what I do (short of a restart) I’m not getting my timeline to render. This happens to me fromm time to time, haven’t pinpointed the cause and I’m not changing settings or anything. Got FCP Rescue and all. Gonna do a restart now and see if she’s going to behave.

    … ever forward

Thanks for helping, in fact I did as Walter suggested and clicked all render options, and it’s works. I’m sorry for Mo, hope you will have better luck soon!

    Have a nice day!
