Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy A question about upgrades

I presently own a copy of Final Cut Pro that I purchased and registered.

My employer, an educational institution, has a policy where they want to buy the educational version of products on your behalf.

The educational version of Final Cut Studio costss $695 and does not allow you to upgrade. If I upgraded my Final Cut Pro to Final Cut Studio, it would cost exactly the same, and allow me to upgrade.

If I save my serial number of Final Cut Pro, would I be able to upgrade using the old serial number, even if the educational version was presently installed on my machine?

Or should I simply rename the folder containing my old Final Cut HD so that I can use it to qualify for the upgrade?

Or am I really better off begging my educational friends to let me buy the upgrade instead of the educational version? (I know I am in one respect because upgrading to the next Final Cut Studio will presumably cost $699 from Final Cut but $499 from my upgraded Studio).

Are there any reprecussions of this I haven’t thought of?

    Many thanks.

Sorry Rainer, but you are mistaken. The serial numbers from the Educational versions will not work with the upgrade. It won’t accept them.
