  • a problem with play back after doing a 3-way color correction

A student just did a three-way color correction and a levels adjustment on a video clip that was freezed-framed and when he played the clip back all of the dark colors are outlined and filled with green, and all of the light colors are filled with a purpulish pink color so the whole video clip is nothing but green and purpulish pink does anyone know what is going on is it a glitch in the software or a problem that can be fixed by just simply trashing my prefrences.

    thank you,

Wow. Never heard of that before. I don’t think it’s a software thing. Maybe get your student to reomove the attributes of the clip(s) that was colour corrected and then watch what he’s doing when he trys again to make sure it’s being done correctly. If the same result happens then by all means trash prefs and restart FCP.

I’ve sometimes had a similar sounding problem if I’m working with MPEG footage in an FCP timeline. What’s the footage source? If it’s MPEG, consider getting Streamclip, which is free, and converting the footage to the format you’re editing (i.e. DV).

    Good luck,
